Defining the “P” in P-20South Carolina • The South Carolina P-20 Team: • Tom Olson, tolson@ed.sc.gov & Deb Huggins, dhuggins@ed.sc.gov,Pam Wills, pwills@ed.sc.gov, Camille Brown, cbrown@che.sc.gov • Agencies Involved in the P-20 Initiative: • First Steps – birth to 3 years of age • SC Department of Education – 4 year old kindergarten - high school • Commission on Higher Education – postsecondary • Primary P-20 Initiatives: • Unique Student IDs assigned to children in private and public Head Start • Will link First Steps database to SLICE (South Carolina Information Center for Education) • Plan to track at-risk indicators for children prior to kindergarten • Baby.Net – data on newborns, low birth weight, etc. • South Carolina EC Data Collaborative Survey
