  4. What is Parent Involvement? Developed by Dr. Joyce Epstein, director of the Center on School, Family, and Community Partnerships and the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at www.csos.jhu.edu

RCOE Support for Parent Engagement • County superintendent support for and commitment to parent engagement. • Formation of Parent Engagement Leadership Initiative (PELI) January 2011. • Vision of the future in the area of parent engagement. • Research based structure in place. • Delivery of parent engagement trainings through PELI.

  6. PELI Training Series Training series – a series of nineresearch based modules in a “trainer-of-trainers” format. Topics include: Parent Engagement: Keys to Student Success Positive Parenting in Public Education Communicating Volunteering Learning at Home Decision Making Collaborating with the Community Connecting the Dots Action Teams for Partnerships

  7. PELI Module #9: Action Teams for Partnerships • Organize a goal linked program of school, family, and community partnerships for successful schools and successful students using the framework of Six Types of Involvement. • Developa research-based partnership program by selecting parent involvement practices that support the school site goals, formingan Action Team for Partnerships, and solving challenges to involve family and community partners. • Completea draft of a One Year Action Plan for Partnerships that can be evaluated and improvedeach year.
