Easy is funded under the Artes 20 framework coordinated by ESA • Artes 20 is focused on the development of innovative services enable by at least two satellite assets • EASY consortium id composed by 5 companies and is coordinated by SIRM • Easy lasts 9 months and the final review is planned for the beginning of May EASY Project EASY – Easy And Safe Yachting

The basic idea is to allow high value leisure yachtsmen and charters providers to access to bundles of services tailored to their specific needs through a single Service Center • Service Center can be accessed only through a specific marine terminal developed in the frame of the project • Satellite Navigation and Communication are the core enabler assets of the foreseen service model • The main differentiators are: • Seamless communication coverage • Respects of IMO navigation requirements thanks the adoption of EGNOS/Gaileo • One-shop service EASY Concept EASY – Easy And Safe Yachting

  7. EASY system is composed by two main Sub-systems: • Easy Terminal: it comprises both hardware and a software components • EASY Service Center: IT platform exploiting SOA paradigm EASY Architecture EASY – Easy And Safe Yachting

EASY Service Centre logical architecture • Data Management: this layer relies on the use of relational databases (e.g. Oracle DBMS) • Application Infrastructure: the application infrastructure layer is based on a Java EE Application Server technology, which host the business logic. It also provides high degree of SOA capabilities and integrates with the SOA Infrastructure technologies. A list of well-known application server can include JBoss, IBM Websphere, Oracle Weblogic, etc. • Service Infrastructure: the service infrastructure layer contains a set of modules that cooperate together in the SOA Infrastructure. EASY Terminal Hardware • CPU BOX (equipped with an Intel Atom E680T processor @ 1.6GHz), 1GB DDRII, 2GB USB Flash Disk, SDCARD slot, physically separated from the touch screen unit • External TFT Monitor (up to 12”) for maritime applications • Resistive Touch Screen • Internal USB-UMTS modem with external antenna • Easy Terminal Software • Easy HMI interface • Application layer • Hardware abstractionlayer EASY Terminal EASY – Easy And Safe Yachting

  10. Demonstrations will be carried out late April • The final review will be held at ESA premises early May • The consortium prepares the next step toward ESA concerning the ARTES 20 project • The consortium intends to commercialized the EASY service EASY nextstepes EASY – Easy And Safe Yachting
