Nature of The Nature of Communication • It is an attempt by the individuals involved to share their own feelings, purposes, and knowledge and to understand the feelings, purposes and knowledge of the others. Between two people, communication is a two-way process. As more individuals are involved, the processes multiply.   9. Letters are the most common means of communication. Other means are telegram, telephone, telex, fax, e-mail, radio, television, newspapers, etc.

Formal and Informal Letters Formal letter - is a letter written to a business, a college, or any professional that are not considered friends or family Informal letter - is a letter you would write to a friend of family member. It doesn't necessarily need a format, but there is a standard. Example of layout: Dear (Name), Body of letter Sincerely, (Name) • . • Example of layout: • Dear (Name), • (Body of letter) • Sincerely, (Name) (Sign in pen under typed name)

Standard Letter Format Styles • Block style- All sections of the letter are flush against the left margin of the page.  Each paragraph in the body of the letter begins flush left margin, with a one space line dividing each paragraph. • Semi-block Style-The date, signature, and address heading are aligned on the right • side of the page. All other sections are flush • left margin.  Paragraphs in the body • of the letter begin flush left with a one space • line dividing each paragraph.

Indented Style- The date, signature, and address heading are aligned on the right side of the page.  The greeting • is flush left.  Paragraphs in the body of the letter are indented with no space line between paragraphs.   • Memorandum Style- This is a business • format that is best used for interoffice correspondence. • The body of the memorandum:“Date:” “To:” Name or column of names of those people to • whom the memorandum is being sent to. “From:” Writer’s name.  “Re:” or “Subject:” Subject linemay be emphasized by underlining, bold font or all capital letters.

Tips • Picking up plastic bags, bottles (plastic and glass) and the cans in your community. The bags can be used in the car as a trash bag, to clean up animal poop or to carry items places later on. • Recycle products at home including you mixed paper like paper bags and boxes from the fast food joint (as long as they aren't dripping with condiments and leftover toppings.)

  20. Use signage to get you point across. • Ask entities in your community to practice recycling and put recycling bins in their stores or in the area. Community partnerships can strengthen the ties you. • Buy a trash can, line your trash can and cover your trash can. Many people will have a trash can and not line it with a durable trash bag, leading to residue from the trash and more reasons for cats and other animals to get into them.
