  3. Facts • My half brother is “El Duque’”a pitcher for Orlando • I was a 1997 national League Championship Series MVP • A 1997 World Series MVP • Started his carrier as a pitcher for the Florida Marlins

  4. How I came to America • After meeting with Joe Cubas the recruiter in 1994, him and I planned an escape through Mexico • At the age of 20 I gave up my $6 a month job as an official Cuban athlete and defected to the United States in 1995

  5. Conflicts • Mr.Hernandez was suspected of being a “straw buyer” for Ayala-Vazquez, according to a high-ranking law enforcement source. A straw buyer purchases items for others in their own name. This allows illegal activities and drug trafficking to be hidden.
