  30. ARTICLE 2: LITURGICAL DIVERSITYAND THE UNITY OF THE MYSTERY 309

  31. Christ is Mediator between God and Man

  32. NOTHING IS GREATER …every liturgical celebration, because it is an action of Christ the priest and of His Body which is the Church, is a sacred action surpassing all others; no other action of the Church can equal its efficacy by the same title and to the same degree.(SC 7)

  33. the liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; … it is the font from which all her power flows. For the aim and object of apostolic works is that all who are made sons of God …should come together to praise God in the midst of His Church, to take part in the sacrifice, and to eat the Lord's supper.(SC 10)

  34. SC 10 …The liturgy in its turn moves the faithful, … to be "one in holiness" [26]; it prays that "they may hold fast in their lives to what they have grasped by their faith" [27]; the renewal in the Eucharist of the covenant between the Lord and man draws the faithful into the compelling love of Christ and sets them on fire.

  35. Holy Eucharist proclaim death of the Lord ‘til He comes reading scriptures concerning Him continue in teaching of Apostles communion in breaking of the bread celebrating Eucharist in which “the victory and triumph of His death are again made present.” giving thanks to God for His unspeakable gift in Christ Jesus through power of Holy Spirit SC 6

  36. In the Liturgy: Christ associates the Church with Himself God is glorified men are sanctified The Church His bride calls to him and offers worship to the Eternal Father. SC 7

  37. …From the Eucharist is achievedin the most efficacious way • grace is poured forth upon us;… • sanctification of men in Christ • the glorification of God, • (to which all other activities of the Church are directed as toward their end),. SC 10

  38. Participation in the Liturgy • Church desires that the faithful be led: • to PARTICIPATION that full, conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy. • Such participation by Christians • chosen race, royal priesthood, • a holy nation, a redeemed people: • is their right and duty by reason oftheir Baptism. SC 14

  39. Source of true Christian spirit: the full and active participation by all in the Sacred Liturgy This aim is to be considered before all. SC 14

  40. What the Liturgy does • builds those who are within into: • a holy temple of the Lord • a dwelling place for God in Spirit • mature measure of fullness of Christ • strengthens power to preach Christ • shows forth Church to outsiders • shows Church as sign under which the scattered children of God may be gathered together until there is one sheepfold and shepherd SC 2
