  3. KBOR Overview

  4. Kansas eTranscript Initiative What Is It? This initiative will streamline the exchange of K-12 student records and the transfer of high school transcripts for all Kansas students. When Will It Be Deployed? Pilot districts will begin sending and receiving transcripts and student records in spring 2010. Rollout will continue until all districts have been implemented. How Much Does It Cost? There is no cost to districts or to students. The eTranscript Initiative is funded through a longitudinal data system grant awarded to KSDE by the Institute of Education Sciences. Furthermore, the initiative requires no hardware, software, or ongoing maintenance.

  5. Why implement eTranscripts in Kansas? • No paperwork required for the transfer of student transcripts/records • Far greater accuracy in the data sent/received • Speed of transfer that no manual transcript process can match • Transcript processing cost reductions that, by some estimates, exceed 50% • Significant time savings, enabling staff to focus on important student matters • Verification of delivery of student transcripts and records • Secure, auditable, easy-to-use web-based environment for record transfers • Implementation/operation within the student information and data management systems already used by the district • Expedited timeframe for colleges to receive consistent and easily stored and shared transcripts • Opportunity for any college or university to receive transcripts in their desired format for free

  6. How is the eTranscript initiative being Governed? • KSDE Steering Committee – Advocate for adoption of the eTranscript to districts and oversee the initiative. • Postsecondary - Advocate the eTranscript initiative to the postsecondary institutions. • eTranscript Advisory Council (ETAC) - Work as an advisor to the KSDE Steering Committee to establish and promote the eTranscript initiative across the State. • KSDE Website – A tool to provide information about the eTranscript initiative.

  7. What is the Postsecondary’s Role? Postsecondary schools can register, at no charge, to receive electronic transcripts from high schools.
