Curriculum and learning Subjects to be studied: • English - Oral Language - Listening and Speaking, Visual Language -Viewing and Presenting, Written Language – Reading, Writing • Focus: improving writing skills, comprehension • Mathematics - Number, Data Handling, Measurement, Shape and Space, Pattern and Function • Focus: improving basic facts, number sense • Social Studies, PSE, Science, Visual Art - integrated when meaningful through inquiry units • PE, Music (Specialist Subjects)
Technology in Year 6 • Integrated within our classrooms to enhance learning. • Ipads • Itouches • Computers • Online websites and applications
Homework • Students will receive their homework every two weeks • Subjects may include Mathematics, English, Inquiry, IT and Chinese • Reading daily • The grid will be on The Buzz and will be sent home as a hard copy in their homework books • Chinese is given out separately on the Buzz
Educational Visits • Camp (Outward Bound in Sai Kung) Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th December 2011 • Parent meeting TBA • History Museum (parent help needed) • Happy Valley Cemetery (parent help needed)
The Exhibition • Parent Information Evening – End of Term1, TBA • Exhibition – End of Term 2 The exhibition “represents a significant event in the life of a PYP school and student, synthesizing the essential elements of the PYP and sharing them with the whole school community. As a culminating experience it is an opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB learner profile that have been developing throughout their engagement with the PYP.”
