  2. Key to Understanding Health Services 1 The National Health Service (NHS) is NOT one big body. Rather it is a collection of separate organisations, each with their own remits, management structures, budgets and governance

  3. Key to Understanding Health Services 2 Within the collection of health organisations there is a clear divide between commissioners and providers Commissioners: plan and purchase services based on local need Providers: take on contracts to deliver ‘commissioned’ services

  4. Key to Understanding Health Services 3 Some aspects of health support for children and young people are provided by organisations that are outside the NHS. For example:- The Local Authority Private Companies

  5. The Public Health Workforce All of us here have a collective role in ensuring our children and young people grow up emotionally and physically well
