In 2011, the Texas Education Agency will implement key improvements to the Virtual Depository Surplus System. Changes include limiting the number of times orders can be rejected by districts and reducing the time orders remain in the surplus system before being sent to publishers. Additionally, online inquiries will be created for districts to locate surplus textbooks, and provisions will be made for districts to transfer materials between each other. Enhanced visibility and accuracy in shipment transactions will also be prioritized, alongside strict reporting of worn-out textbooks.
