  3. Classes on 800 Hallway • 801 Dance Studio, Gaddy and Rice • 802 Black Box Theater (Drama) Love • 803 Instrumental Music Miller and Holmberg • Everyone uses the restrooms on this hall so lock up your personal items in your locker.

  4. GHS DANCE DEPARTMENT • Recognizes that students come in as individuals, seek to pursue diverse pathways, and accomplish diverse outcomes. With guidance, each student interweave his or her own experience to make a life in dance.

  5. Department Goals • High standard of teaching and learning within the NC Essential Standards for dance. • Teach dance as an art form. • To sustain a community in which individual and cultural difference are respected and celebrated. • To offer a place for students to grow as artist. • To encourage the community to understand and appreciate dance.

  6. Evaluation • 35% Participation • 35% Performance • 20% Portfolio • 10% Quiz • Dance is a performing art; therefore participation in the dance concert is mandatory. Dance students are responsible for attending all dress rehearsals and the performance events.

  7. Expectations • Dance Everyday (participate and try your best) Students do not get participation credit if they do not dance. • You must have a doctors note to sit out of class. Alternate assignment = part credit only. • You must dress out to take class. • Students will participate in the Dance Concerts. • Students will keep a portfolio of all written and some recorder work in a folder in the dance studio.

  8. Dress-Out We dress like a professional dance school because we are a professional dance school. • Students must provide their own dress-out dancewear. • Leotards and dance tights are require for advanced dance classes. • No shoes, socks, or jewelry in dance class. • Hair must be neatly out of your face. • No prints on clothing.

  10. 801 Dance Studio • No food or drinks in the studio. • No shoes on the dance floor. • No gum or candy in the studio. • No hands on the mirrors. • No students in the dance office. • No students at the tech cart or using the speaker. • Ballet Barres are to be used appropriately. • No shoes, socks, or jewelry.
