Changing Working Units in SolidWorks from MM to Inch

In this guide, learn how to change the working units in SolidWorks from millimeters to inches. Open SolidWorks and create two perpendicular lines by clicking the line button in the top left corner. Once you’ve drawn your lines, locate the unit box in the bottom right corner. Click on it to access four measurement system options: MKS (meter, kilogram, second), CGS (centimeter, gram, second), MMGS (millimeter, gram, second), and IPS (inch, pound, second). Select IPS for inch measurements to streamline your work.

  2. Open Solidworks, and In the top left corner, click the line button and create two lines perpendicular to each other.

  3. After you draw a couple lines, In the bottom right corner there is a unit box that you click on to change the units.

  4. Once you click on the Units box, four measurements will appear; MKS (meter, kilogram, second), CGS (centimeter, gram, second), MMGS (millimeter, gram, second), and lastly IPS (inch, pound, second). Click on the units you want to work with, and you are ready to get to work with the right measurements.
