  3. What is Induction? Effective Induction has the following elements: Regular coaching within the educator’s context by a carefully selected and trained mentor Personalized learning that is integrated with school and district goals Competency indicators required for program completion that support a recommendation for the clear license

  5. BTSA and IHE Induction Programs Standards apply to LEA sponsored BTSA Induction Programs and University Induction Programs IHEs are eligible to sponsor Induction Programs The state budget allocates funding, through the flexible funding grant, for LEA sponsored BTSA Induction

Support Provider Requirement (13) A program sponsor that operates a program for the Clear Education Specialist Credential shall ensure that each Clear Education Specialist candidate’s teacher support provider holds an appropriate California special education teaching credential or has equivalent professional background and experience. The individual assigned as a support provider must be someone other than the teacher's supervisor or principal.

Submission and Approval • Initial Institutional Approval is established • Initial Program Approval Process: • Submit program documentation for the Initial Program Review (IPR) process • The program documentation must describe how the institution will meet the appropriate program standards and provide the necessary evidence (such as course syllabi, handbooks, evaluation forms, etc.) to support the narrative description

Submission and Approval • Program is reviewed by panel members and when it addresses all standards adequately, it is recommended to the COA for approval • COA approves the program • Program then participates in accreditation activities within the sponsor’s cohort • Initial Program Approval Process Steps and Information: http://www.ctc.ca.gov/educator-prep/new-program-submission.html#program
