  3. Fat • Fat is a big component in food • Little kids need fat • Some foods including • fruits and vegetables have no fat • Oils and meats like beef have fat • Toddlers need to drink whole milk • While older kids can drink skim milk

  4. Protein • A porterhouse steak is great protein 38 grams • best sources are beef, poultry, fish, eggs • Beef, poultry, fish and eggs • Protein contains good digestive juices • About half of your non-water mass is made up of protein.

  5. Fiber • Fiber are carbohydrates that cannot be digested • Fiber • can help lower blood cholesterol • Sources • Whole grain breads • buns • bagels • muffins

  6. Vitamins • Thirteen different vitamins have been identified by nutritionists • Vitamins include A, eight B-complex vitamins, C, D, E, and K • Vitamins regulate metabolism • convert fat and carbohydrates • Can be found in Sun, milk and orange juice

  7. Minerals • Types= Calcium, iron and Zinc • Minerals help your body grow • The body uses minerals to perform many different functions • Their used for building strong bones mainly • Also used for transmitting nerve impulses

  8. Water • Your body is made of 60% water • You need water to live • Sources are fruit and vegetables • Fights of illness
