  2. The Coming of the Spirit 2:1-4 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

  4. Men United All waited for it All experienced it All had same blessing

  5. Baptism of Fire 2:2-3 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

  6. Wind –the Power of the Spirit Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. Exodus 14:21 I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north - an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. Ezekiel 1:4

  7. Fire – the Purity of the Spirit There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Exodus 3:2 The LORD Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire. Isaiah 29:6

  8. Tongues –the Voice of the Spirit When the Counsellor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, He will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with Me from the beginning. John 15:26-27

  9. Filled Up v4 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

The Amazement of the Spirit 2:5-13 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 9-11 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs Temple on Feast Day

  12. Go and make disciples of all nations, Matthew 28:19 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

International Sound 2:6-8 • 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. • 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? • 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?

  15. Total Amazement 2:12-13 • 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?" • 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine."

The Effect of the Spirit 2:37 -41 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 41 Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
