  1. Learning Objective An introduction to the College Board Opportunity Scholarships for Class of 2020. To begin the process to “plan, prepare, and pay” for college. This week we will be focusing on the SATs. Agenda: 1. Announcements 2. SAT Overview 3. SAT Practice

  2. This Week’s Announcements StuCo’s Partial Lock-In will take place on Friday, Feb. 15th from 4:10 until 9pm. Tickets are $5. Admission includes a slice of pizza and chips, a movie, board games, and a basketball and volleyball tournament. More concessions will be available. All proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The College Board Opportunity Scholarship Program is a six step process that begins Spring Semester of your Junior Year. • Build your College List • Practice for the SAT test The College Board will award 150 Practice scholarships every month from January through October 2019. To qualify you must complete six hours of SAT practice on Khan Academy. You can earn one entry for each additional hour you practice, up to a total of 20 hours.

  4. SAT Test • The SAT is accepted by every U.S. college. • 2 out of 3 students raise their scores when they retake the SAT. • Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy is free and personalized for all students. • Students who use Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy for 20 hours gain an average of 115 points from the PSAT to the SAT.

  5. SAT Test • The SAT gives students 43% more time per question than the ACT. • There’s no penalty on the SAT for guessing or leaving questions blank. • You should plan on completing the SAT at least once your Junior Year and one time your Senior Year.

  6. Practice for SATTest Go to www.khanacademy.org/sat to begin practicing. Use the rest of this College Prep and the next one to practice.
