HealthScience 20 Students will be challenged to look at the health science field from traditional, scientific, and complementary perspectives in order to make sound personal health choices and investigate health science careers. • medical knowledge systems and ethics; • human anatomy and physiology; • nutrition and metabolism; • and medical diagnostics.

  4. Environmental Science 20 • Students will examine environmental issues through scientific and indigenous perspectives, leading to the development of environmental action plans and investigation of environmental science careers. • climate change; • water, soil, and air quality; • Urbanization; • bioresourcemanagement; • and the impacts of agriculture and industry on the environment. • 1 Sentence

Physical Science 20 Students will learn a combination of Chemistry 20 and Physics 20 in a hands-on manner, studying both public and private science as it occurs in agriculture, industry, and universities to help students better understand the physical science related career paths. • heating and cooling; • the mole; • quantitative analysis of molecules; • chemical reactions; • and the characteristics and properties of electromagnetic radiation.

  6. EarthScience 30 Earth Science 30 is a new grade 12 provincially developed science course, using hands-on field experience and technology to understand • our planet’s geological origins; • Rock classification; • the role of Geographic Information Systems; • and geology-related careers.

  7. Students will study evolution, the very nature of life and how this is changing over time. Student inquiry will guide independent investigations of biology-related phenomena and careers. Biology 30 • the organization of life in all kingdoms, including: • biomolecules • cellular processes • and organism function • genetics and biotechnology, including: • inheritance • how information is stored, transmitted, and expressed

  8. Physics 30 Students will investigate how objects interact with one another by studying modern physics, motion and different types of fields. Student inquiry will guide independent investigations of physics-related phenomena and careers.
