  6. IV. Tecumseh and the Prophet • 1. U.S. Settlement began to have negative effects on the indigenous people.

  7. A. New Leaders Take Charge 1. Tecumseh was from the Shawnee tribe. He wanted to create a transcontinental Indian confederation. 2. The Prophet (Tecumseh’s brother) was left in charge of the Shawnee tribe.

  8. 3. The U.S. sent William H. Harrison to disperse the Indians at Prophetstown. • 4. The Prophet attacked?? Harrison and lost the battle. Prophetstown was burned to the ground.
