Insights from the First LHC p+p and Pb+Pb Runs: High-pT Physics Workshop Overview

The High-pT Physics Workshop held at the University of Jyväskylä from March 23-27, 2007, gathered experimentalists and theorists to analyze data from the inaugural LHC p+p (√s=900 GeV and 14 TeV) and Pb+Pb (√s=5.5 TeV) runs. Organized by prominent physicists from leading institutions, the workshop aimed to advance understanding of topics including nuclear modification of parton distribution functions, high-pT jet production, jet propagation in matter, and correlations of leading particles. The event fostered collaboration in the high-energy physics community to decipher LHC findings.

  1. High-pT physics at LHC What can we learn from the first p+p and Pb+Pb runs at LHC? March 23 - 27 2007 Department of Physics, University of Jyväskylä, Finland • Organizers: • Kari J. Eskola, University of Jyväskylä • Peter Levai, KFKI RMKI,hungary • Andreas Morsch, CERN • Jan Rak, University of Jyväskylä • Vesa Ruuskanen University of Jyväskylä The purpose of this workshop is to offer an opportunity for experimentalists and theorists to discuss an analysis of the data taken within the first year of LHC p+p (s=900 GeV and 14 TeV) and Pb+Pb (s=5.5 TeV) runs.  Registration deadline is January 31st, 2007 • Topics : • ・Nuclear modification of the parton distribution functions; • ・High-pT jet production in pp, pA and AA; • ・High-pT jet propagation in matter; • ・Nuclear modification of the fragmentation functions; • ・Correlation of leading particles; • ・Direct photon and heavy flavor tagging; Contacts& more Information http://www.jyu.fi/physics/research/conferences/lhc07
