  13. Change Is Scary!

  14. Job Search Myth #1 No one is hiring in this market. Beware of blanket statements starting with “no one” or “everyone,” red flags go up. There is opportunity in any market – it just may be harder to find it sometimes. Think about the current events and what opportunities they could be creating. 25 CPO / Sr procurement slots right now: Revenue-Expense=Profit

  15. BEST SUPPLY CHAIN PEOPLE • Supply chain people today really understand the whole order to remittance cycle and are conversant in product planning and development, and manufacturing, as well as sourcing, procurement, distribution and logistics. • They are also well versed in finance and understand the balance sheet as well as income statement. • They think a lot about cash, working capital and return on assets. • The good ones are strategic without abandoning their attention to detail. • It probably goes without saying that they have a global perspective and always think about total cost when evaluating new suppliers. • They also need to be very process oriented, and, in manufacturing companies, must have a feel for lean manufacturing and being a change agent. We’re not purchasing, Dorothy

  16. 70 %Senior supply leaders, CPO’s come from outside procurement..why?

  17. Job Search Myth #2 When times are tough, take the first job offer you get. Taking a job in which one is underemployed, dislikes the work, or otherwise is far afield from ideal, just to get a paycheck coming in, can have far-reaching implications. Often people compromise out of fear or lack of clarity regarding what is really ideal for them. Knowing what your ideal job is and it becomes easier to find. BUSY HANDS

  26. Job Search Myth #4 You should not apply for a job if you don’t have all of the listed qualifications. Employers rarely find absolutely everything they are looking for in a candidate. Most hiring managers rely somewhat on gut instinct about someone, knowing that if they have found a good worker, they can train them in many of the specifics of a job.
