  2. Our Umbrella Question How do lakes, rivers and streams work?

  3. Our little questions Will the lakes, rivers and streams ever run out of water if we keep drinking it? How did they build the dam on Lake Karapiro? If the nature around streams grow better than anywhere else, why does this happen? How does the salt water and fresh water connect? Why do streams look so pure when they are surrounded by bush or mountains but when they come out into the open they look dirtier? Why does water keep on coming back? Why do some countries have cleaner lakes, rivers and streams than others?

  4. How does the rain divide into different catchments? Why do different rivers have different speeds? Why does the water look blue or green when it runs out of the tap but when you put it into a glass it looks clear? What is the process from the water in the Waikato River to Hamilton’s drinking water?

  5. Rivers Over time Rivers can form big Valleys. It starts off as a normal river or stream, and around the area is flat land. When the river flows it picks up big stones or small things and over time it cuts into the land and makes a big dip in the ground. It can make big tall banks. Then it becomes a big valley.

  6. The answers to our questions Q) Will the lakes and seas run out of water if we keep drinking it? A)No the lakes and seas will not run out of water because the water cycle will keep on replenishing our water supply. Q) why does the water keep coming back? A) Because of the water cycle. Q) Why do different rivers have different speeds? A) Because different rivers have different sized slopes so gravity pushes the water down the hill faster. Q) What is the process from the Waikato River to Cambridge drinking water?
