  1. CALL HER BLESSED “Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying, Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all” ( Prov. 31:28029).

Still Waiting for That Praise? • It’s a busy world, and we forget sooo much that’s important. • This day is the Lord’s Day. • He’s the one who wants us to praise our mothers (not to the exclusion of Him.) • Being a mother is “natural” – Titus 2:4. • “Motherhood is the sacred marriage of the mundane and the eternal.” • “The glory of motherhood comes camouflaged in so much chaos.” (Lisa Jo Baker) • “Have you called your mother today?”

  3. What Women Offer to Society • They are “civilizing”. • Man discovered salt. Women discovered pepper and cinnamon and paprika and all the rest. • Women are responsible for art. Michelangelo’s wife said, “Honey, I need a picture to cover that blank wall.” • Men are basic. We need that. Women are spice. • They are Nurturing. • What would happen if a child said, “Daddy, kiss this and make it better.”? • Nothing, cause it won’t happen. • We go to mother for heartaches, headaches and all the rest. • Yes, these are generalizations, but they do “generalize.”

  4. Moses’ Mother • Exodus 2 • The risk • The love • She “gave him up” to save him. • Trusted God (and Miriam). • Did she have questions, troubles, anxiety? • Courage, Faith, Love – what great qualities. • Did he ever get to “praise” her?

  5. Samuel’s Mother • I Sam 1 • Had it been up to Elkanah, would Samuel have been born? • Total devotion to a “cause” – Samuel. • Spirit of sacrifice – to have Samuel, and then give him up. • How much did the early years with her nurture him spiritually? • “The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.”

  6. Solomon’s Wisdom • I Kings 3:16ff • What of the women (forget for a moment the “harlot” part)? • Can we learn anything from their action with the children? • One died “accidentally”. Preventable? • Just steal another. • V. 26-27, besides divine wisdom, how could you tell which is deserving to be the mother? • Would a true mother sacrifice everything for her child?

  7. Unknown Woman • Romans 16:13 • How many other great, “unknown” women can you name? • Most of the events are “one episode” stories. • Does your life consist of “one episode”? How much don’t we know about them. • Some good, some evil, but they made the Lord’s list. • “Call them blessed.”
