  4. Federal Program Updates • Federal Programs EIS Review Jan Lanier Powerpoint

  5. Food Service Module • I will upload the students who are direct certified as being free lunch for all schools. This list does not come from your cafeteria manager but from the state in which Brenda Freshour provides to me. These students will be coded and do not need to be modified in STAR for your school. • To see the list of students who are direct certified please go to FOOD SERVICE>>REPORTS>> DIRECT CERTIFICATION LIST • I will only import this one time to start the year from that point forward all new students will need to be coded • Do NOT enter any  Lunch Codes in the Special Programs Table anymore. This table will still reflect lunch codes for a time until the state changes the extract process but it is for viewing purposes only. • You do NOT need to enter the PAID (Z) lunch code for your students from this point forward. • With me doing Direct Cert and you not having to code Paid Lunch, the number of students you have to touch to update their lunch status should be reduced. • This does mean that we will not roll lunch status from year to year anymore with this reduced workload to get the data in. It also gives us a more up to date and accurate list of lunch status if we start fresh each year.   • Make sure that you do not use the F (Free) and R (Reduced Lunch) codes as those do not relate to state reporting. I know this is confusing and they will be in the drop down list before you get to X or Y but make sure you only use X or Y for status.

  6. Transfer Student in Food Service • When a student transfers to your school from another school within our district, please remember to check their food service record. The food service record looks like it is following the student, but in reality you are just seeing the food service record from the sending school. Please follow the steps outlined below to ensure their food service information is correct. • 1. If they have a Free or Reduced code showing from the previous school on the Food Service Page, • 2. Click the green plus and create a new Food Service Record for your school, • 3. Enter the same code as previously listed and the date will be the enrollment date in the new school, • 4.  This needs to be entered for Application Status and date and Current Status and date, • 5.  Click save (yellow disk). • 6.  This creates the Food Service Record in your school which automatically creates the Special Program Record for lunch status (Lunch Status is extracted from Special Programs and sent to EIS) Please remember that EIS will be the official count for Free and Reduced this Year. • 7.  Next go to Special Programs and enter Title 1 or Regular depending on your school, • 8.  Verify Food service Status on Special Programs page. • HANDOUT November 9th 2009

  7. Bus Route Changes - Info • The Bus Route Stop Tables have been modified to reflect a new ROUTE number. The ROUTE scheme is school number- route number (I.E. Ottway 1st Bus Route is 75-1.) • The students bus info has not been rolled into 2010-2011 and will need to be re-entered with the new route info. This will only be done one-time and will be rolled into the coming year’s databases. • The value is that when you have a new bus number to replace an old bus number you no longer have to replace each student’s route number. You simply go the Bus Route Stop Table and change the bus number click Save and all the students assigned to that route get the new bus number.

  8. Beginning of Year Item Reminders • New Track Code is 01. will be used in all years. • Homerooms (School Info- Homeroom Table and Scheduling – Teacher Table) • Scheduling – Valid Period Table • Scheduling – Teacher Assignments • Grading - Marking Period Table Teacher Post Start and End Dates • Interims – Interim Period Table • Discipline – Incident Location Table
