Project PREPARE • Pennsylvania Radiological Emergency Preparedness and Response Effort • “All-Hazards” Emergency Planning for Businesses and Dependent Care Institutions; • builds on the successful REP EPZ Planning; • includes non-traditional REP facilities planning; and • will be expanded Commonwealth-Wide.

Key Objectives of Phase 1 • Coordinated Special Needs Approach • Coordinated Emergency Plans, Protective Actions, Evacuation Routes, Host Facilities • Coordinated Communications & Outreach to Citizens • Long-Term Sheltering • Security for Evacuated Towns • Maintenance of Utilities (electric, water, sewer)

  9. Planning Elements • Planning Toolkit; Plan Updates • Plan Review Process; Initial/Repeatable • Possible assistance from Citizen Corps

Planning Elements, continued • e.g., ensuring: • Evacuation routes are profiled correctly? • Vehicle/driver inventories are accurate? • Evacuation routes are away from (rather than toward) the hazard? • Adequate host facilities and long-term sheltering exists? • Security for the town(s) exists? • Utilities are maintained?

  11. The Four Stages of Phase 1 Finalize Tools or Enhance Tools Facilities Outreach: Submit Plans for Review or Embrace Toolkit* Plan Reviews & Comments State Employee and/or Citizen Corps Education for Plan Review *For facilities without current plans, the timeline will be one year.
