  1. 1.3 Testing Nets Mini Project-Prediction Part 1 Objective: By the end of this period I will find strategies for finding the surface area of a prism and I will find that volume of a rectangular prism iscounting the number of unit cubes it takes to fill the prism. Captains distribute the materials to each group member from the group folder and place homework in group box. A packaging engineer from Save-a-Tree Packaging Company got hired to design boxes to package different items. He drew nets of the designs but lost his notes on the dimensions of each box. • Analyze the four different box nets. On the index card write a prediction only, not the question for each of the following: • Analyze each net, do you think that each net can make a 3D box? Podracadaplantillaconvertirse en caja? • Predict how each box design will look, what are some of the items that can be packaged in each box? Como se miraracadadiseno de caja? Quepodranempaquetar en cadacaja? • Why does the engineer need to find the dimensions for each box. Porquenecesita el ingenierolasdimensiones de cadacaja? • When ready share with your neighbor your prediction and be ready to share with the class. Cuandoesteslistocomparte con tuvecino.

  2. Testing Nets- Mini Project Rubric Objective: By the end of this period I will strategies for finding the surface area of a prism and I will find that volume of a rectangular prism by counting the number of unit cubes it takes to fill the prism. Testing Nets Mini Project will consist of 68 total points. Table/Tabla Part I -All entries are accurately entered onto the table for box P 12pts. -All entries are accurately entered onto the table for box Q 12pts. -All entries are accurately entered onto the table for box R12pts -All entries are accurately entered onto the table for box S 12pts Design your own Box Part II -On the blank graph paper design your own box, sketch the net for your box. Your box must look different than box P but hold the same amount of cubes. 20 pts. Total Points 68 pts

  3. 1.3 Testing Nets Mini Project-Prediction Part 1 Objective: By the end of this period I will find strategies for finding the surface area of a prism and I will find that volume of a rectangular prism by counting the number of unit cubes it takes to fill the prism. • Cut out each net and fold in lines to form a box. Put your name on all materials. • Using your boxes, complete the table. Complete the table in the following order: P, Q, R, S • Once tables are complete for each box, design your own box on the blank graph paper that holds the same amount of cubes as box P.

  4. Testing Nets Mini Project-EXIT SLIP Objective: By the end of this period I will strategies for finding the surface area of a prism and I will find that volume of a rectangular prism iscounting the number of unit cubes it takes to fill the prism. On the same index card you wrote the prediction answer the following questions: • Did the boxes look like how you predicted? Se venlascajascomoustedpensoque se mirarian? • Why does the engineer need to know the area of each face of the box? Porquenecesita el ingeniero la area de cadacara? • H.W 4 square vocab net and cube.
