CS466 Group Project Section 1 – Summer 2010

This project presents a user database designed for library members to keep track of current fees and overdue items. Key features include online item reservations, secure member logins, quick checks on available items, and timely updates on library events. Our team faced challenges in designing the database structure, debugging search functionalities, and resolving login and reservation complications. Through collaboration, we gained valuable experience and improved our skills in web technologies including MySQL, PHP, and HTML.

  2. Features User database that will inform members of current fees and late/due items. Online reservations of items in the library. Secure login for members. Quick online check of on-hand items in the library. Frequent updates on upcoming library events. Overall view of all items in the library.

Achievements Designing the structure of the database Putting the tables into normal forms Deciding which keys to use as primary, foreign, and transitive General debugging Search page errors (first getting the search to work, then the sorting) Login issues Reserve complications Working as a group Uncertainty of current tasks to be completed (As a plus) More experience with all aspects of a group project
