  2. Bodybuilder’s World

  3. About the picture • Artist: Kurt Stallaert • The picture takes a look at a world filled with people, young and old, who either spend all their time getting ripped or those kids that wish they were more toned like those models or those bodybuilders.

  4. Questions to consider… • What is your initial reaction to the picture? • What emotions does this convey? • What do you think the purpose is? • What would the picture be like if it was not photoshoped? • How would the purpose change?

  5. Initial Reaction • When you look at the picture you almost have to take a double take at whats going on. At first glance it looks just like a bunch of adults. When you see the faces you realize that their the faces of kids. Its ironic having a kids face on adult bodybuilders body.

  6. What emotions does the picture convey? • Looking at this is a bit disturbing, you think of kids as innocent and powerless, but this image conveys them in a whole new light. These kids don’t look like kids, they look like a group you don’t wanna mess with.

  7. Purpose • To me, I feel this picture is in the point of view is from the kids, this is how they wished they looked. In today's world kids are bombarded with images of what is “perfect” in today's society. • These children look like they have been working on this image all their lives and when you think about it, kids are pressured into thinking that this is a realistic image of what they should look like.

  8. What if this picture was not digitally enhanced? • The purpose of the picture would not be conveyed the way it should be if the picture was not photo shopped. • Without this manipulation, the picture would be of just the kids and it wouldn’t show the impact of how kids think that they should look.

  9. What is left out of the picture? • Where the kids are at • The other kids in the school • What did they do to get to the point that they are at?
