  2. Introduction: What Scope for Collaboration • Identified as a ‘Hot Issue’ by the MHA Strategic Board • Scoping study to establish need with recommendations • Particular emphasis on improving intelligence and ability to deliver funding applications • Scoping Study • Establish contacts / forum with key staff engaged in this process (scheme assessment / funding applications) • Initial survey and workshop to identify and explore issues • Develop recommendations • Implementation • Where we are now! MHA Funding Collaboration

  3. Stage 1: What Scope for Collaboration • Issues from scoping work • Reasonably good success rate– not missing out in significant way • Lack of feedback on bids from DfT • Short timescales for bid submission • Procurement timescales affecting bids (e.g. modelling) and construction (deadlines for spending money) • Opportunities • Sharing bid best practice • Recognition that successful bids have not always complied fully with bid criteria • Better working with LEPs to improve understanding • Liaison with DfT to clarify submission criteria and raise the profile of bids • Use MHA procurement routes to speed up MHA Funding Collaboration

  4. Stage 1: How can the MHA help Recommendations 1: Funding Data Centre A web based Funding Data Centre be established that can be accessed and updated by all member authorities. The data centre would provide a centralised repository for information and could be kept up to date by MHA members. If desirable URS could be retained through the MHA to manage the data centre. 2: Quick Response Forum Establish a quick response forum that would convene upon a new opportunity coming forward. It would meet shortly after documentation is released within approximately one week allowing time for review of the material and ensuring time for collation. The forum would seek potential joint initiatives and share ideas and potentially resources. MHA Funding Collaboration
