Ennui Ennui is a noun which means dissatisfaction and restlessness resulting from boredom or apathy. Ennui is usually used when someone lacks interest in the environment surrounding them; mental state of boredom. Some common synonyms would be boredom, weariness and languor. Contrarily, some antonyms would excitement and jubilant. My ennui for math class was caused by my lack of interest. Ennui is incorporated in my everyday vocabulary. For example, ennui is what follows when I start my least favorite class in school.
