  6. Response • It’s only a chimney fire • Don’t assume anything • THINK HOUSE FIRE! • Response as house fire • Full assignment • Pull charged line to front of house ready to go

  7. Equipment needed • Chimney Brush • Tarps • Metal trash can • Dry Chemical Extinguisher • Baggies with Dry Chemical • Small stove shovel • TI Camera • Mirror

  8. Assignments • Use ICS • Stove Crew • Roof/Chimney Crew • Ventilation Crew • Support crew • Accountability Officer • Safety Officer • EMS

  9. Job Duties • Stove Crew – • Put salvage tarps down • Open damper • Use Dry Chemical to subdue fire • Remove combustibles in metal can • Remove Vent pipe if needed • Use Dry Chemical Extinguisher up chimney

  10. Job Duties - Continued • Chimney/Roof Crew • Remove chimney cap if necessary • Use Plastic bags with Dry Chemical to put out fire

  11. Job Duties • EMS– • Check all occupants for CO • Check out personnel for CO • Keep an ambulance dedicated to fire personnel

  12. Job Duties • SUPPORT CREW • Remove debris from clean out • Check for extension along chimney area • Pull handline • Support ladders • Help with ventilation • Clean area around stove when done.

  13. Safety • Full Protective Equipment • SCBA personnel working roof/chimney • Use TI camera and look for hot spots • Accountability • Use radios for communications • Before using dry chemical up stack, communicate with personnel on roof/chimney

  14. Termination • Check for hot spots • Check house for carbon monoxide • Account for personnel • Check CO levels • Tell home occupant not to use fireplace until inspection.

  15. QUESTIONS???? BE SAFE – EVERYONE GOES HOME
