In the opening sequence, we meet Detective Lt. Somerset, a man who appears to be deeply committed to his work, organized in his personal life, and solitary. Through meticulous details like his neatness, focus on his badge, and lack of family, we begin to understand his character and dedication to his job.

Character Introduction A lot what you see in a opening sequence defines the characters involved personalities. The little things normally give you a very good understand of there overall being or what they are capable of. He is home alone a man of his age would normally have family and grandchildren but for some reason he is completely alone which is followed a few minutes later when we find out how serious he is about his work and that he has been a Detective for many of them so he would have no time for things like a family. He is organised we find this out when he was getting dress had everything perfectly laid out on his bed and dresser , mise en scene shows his possessions lined up, bed made, him picking a spec off of his jacket which reveals how neat his is as a person and that he is always on point. He is a Detective is also learnt through many different ways, mise en scene when he is getting dressed the camera focuses on the police badge & also when he is at the crime scene. Also the from what people say u gather that he is a detective ‘Detective Lt. Somerset’
