Organizational Role • Tri-Agency Work-plan • Pending Legislation regarding alignment of AE to Post-secondary education • TX LEARNS assumes the primary role of leadership in providing successful transition • Professional Development • Responding to Rider 77 (AE /Postsecondary objectives) • Contractor for Workforce Development and student transition

  4. Organizational Role • Texas AE Content Standards Development • Shop Talk (Workforce & Transitions Newsletter) • TELL Research Study (ESL to ABE) • TISESL (ESL students to work) • Implementation of the Lexile framework • Lexile Pilot (Aligning TABE to Lexile scores)

Organizational Role • Texas Success Initiative-College Readiness Standards • TBEC-Texas Business Education Coalition contracted to Lexile reading requirements for 16 industry clusters and college entry reading requirements • TWC Technology Grants • Participation in Web Portal for transitions to college (Higher Ed sponsored)

Current Transition Efforts • Transition Coordinators (full-time) • iBest Models • Project Quest • Working with EOC’s • Conferences for Adult Ed/Developmental Ed Instructors (Collaborative) • Intensive ABE Instruction for (Reading, Writing and Math) to transition students into higher levels of developmental ed
