  3. Introduction • Who do you think built the first car? • You probably said “Henry Ford” • Cars are important because of it’s many uses • Cars are cool because some cars can reach speeds up to 267 mph.

History of Cars • Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built the first full scale vehicle in 1769 called the Steamer • His inventions stopped because the cars couldn't maintain steam pressure • In 1801, Richard Trevithick introduced the Puffing Devil, road locomotive • Believed by many to be the first steam powered vehicle • In 1881, Gustave Trouve built the first electric car in Paris, France

  5. Karl Benz • In 1879,Karl Benz was granted a patent for his first engine • His first car he built was called the Motorwagen and was built in 1885 in Mannheim, Germany • He was granted another patent for his invention • Benz’s cars were sold by Emile Roger, Benz’s agent

  6. Karl Benz • In 1896, Benz designed and built the first Internal combustion flat engine called the Boxer motor • Soon Benz and others were making four-wheeled cars. Motorwagen

Future of Cars • Modern gasoline cars roam the street and cause air pollution • They made cars that don’t use gasoline • Plug-in Hybrids that uses a special charger to charge the cars special batteries • Solar power cars use the sun’s energy to power the motor • Stores the sun’s energy to work at night

Conclusion • Cars are important because of its many uses to life • Cars are cool because some cars can reach speeds up to 267 mph. • Now when someone asks who built the first car you say “Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot.” • If you want to be a mechanic or a car manufacturer you have to know your facts about cars to get the job.
