  1. A WINNINGWOMAN

  2. In the world there are many successful and famous Italian female scientists. After having considered: Margherita Hack Florence 1922- Trieste 2013 World-famous astrophysics, she was the first woman to direct an Astronomical Observatory in Italy. She carried out several popularization activities and she has contributed to the research for the study and the special classification of stars.

  3. Fabiola Gianotti She was born in Rome in 1960. She has devoted herself to study elementary particles. She has coordinated the ATLAS experiment – the construction of an accellerator and particle detector – which involved about 2000 scientists and engineers from 35countries. In 2012 as project leader she announced the discovery of the Higgsboson. She was included at the 78th place among the “Top 100 most influential women” by Forbes magazine. In 2016 she became CERN Director-General, and she is the first woman to hold this title.

  4. Ourchoice: Samantha Cristoforettia young woman who was able to overcome her limits to pet “high”. She was born in Milan in 1977, graduated in mechanics engineering in Monaco of Baviera, attended for 4months – with the Exchange program Erasmus . the National Higher School of Aeronautics and space of Toulouse she attended the aviation in 2001, became a war pilot and she was hired by ESA – European space aggency – in 2009.

  5. In 2011 she began her training as a Reserve Astronaut and in 2012 she was sent to the mission “Futura” of Italia Space Agency (ASI) for the mission on the ISS (International Space Station). Three years before the mission she has hard trained with centrifuges, simulated space-walks and survival tests.

  6. Samantha Cristoforetti is the first Italian woman in the space and she has recorded the largest female permance in orbit: 199 days, 16 hours and 42 minutes, exceeding of 4 days the US college SunitaWilliams.

  7. In the space station the astronaut, in orbit since November 23th 2014 stayed about a mounth more than the expected of Futura 42 mission, because of the incident occured to the russian space-ship Progress, which delayed the return in June 11th 2015. After the detachment of the Soyuz, there was a Flight for about3 hours in 28.000 km/h. Samantha stepped on Earth in the Kazakistan steppe. With Astro-Samatha in the Soyouz, which came back her on Earth, there were ever the american Terry Virts and the russian Anton Shkaplerov.

  8. Samantha has taken part at: - Technology demonstrations: assemble a new unit on a spacesuit, exercises with the robotic arm for the arrival of the supply ships Dragon.- Maintenance activities: supply of the boxes of meals, system control for the removal of carbon dioxide, refilling of the water tank of the toilette drain. Some of the over 200 experiments in program, such as: blind and imagined to study (sometimes eyes closed), the adaptations of the organism, of the senses and the brain to the movement in weightlessness. Drain brain to study the celebral venous return in microgravity. Were able monitoring of Asi during which astronauts wear a shirt equipped with sensor to monitor the heart, breathing and temperature. In addition, in orbit astronauts also gather a series of samples to identify possible markers of weightless and muscle mass that is observed in microgravity.

  9. In addition on board arrived (with Dragon) also new tenants, as fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) which allow the study in a short time happens in different generations after a long stay in weighlessness.

  10. How does your body change in orbit without gravity? After about 5 days of stay in space without gravity the body’s fluids, not anymore attracted downward, they are distrubuted almost homogenously in everybody’s area so the face swells and legs thin. In fact, with zero gravity are effected especially the blood and lymph vessels of the upper body that hopelessly swell. In addiction there is risk of osteporosis and flash that dazzle the eyes.
