  1. Ἄρτεμις (Artemis) By: Courtney Claiborne Virgin goddess of the hunt, wilderness, animals, young girls, childbirth and plague. In later times she became associated with the moon. She is the daughter of Zeusand Leto, and twin sister of Apollo. In art she was usually depicted as a young woman dressed in a short knee-length chiton and equipped with a hunting bow and a quiver of arrows. In addition to the bow, her attributes include hunting spears, animal pelts, deer and other wild animals. Her sacred animals are deer, bears, and wild boars.

  2. Artemis • She was the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and the wild animals • In one legend, Artemis was born one day before her brother Apollo. Her mother gave birth to her on the island of Ortygia, then, almost immediately after her birth, she helped her mother to cross the straits over to Delos, where she then delivered Apollo.

Artemis symbols • General:Crescent moon (new moon), bow and arrow, sandals, clouds, three pillars, and blue sky. • Animals:Dogs, guinea fowl, elephant, horses,  bear, dove, deer, and bee. • Plants:Anemones, flowering almond, hazel, ranunculus, honeysuckle, thistle, laurel, and fir tree. • Perfumes/Scents:Jasmine, aloe, ginseng, lemon verbena, and camphor • Gems and Metals:Moonstone, pearl, quartz, crystal, silver, turquoise, iron, aluminum, and diamonds. • Colors:Silver, white, red, green, and turquoise

  6. Artemis general symbol is the crest moon(full moon). Artemis’s animal symbol the deer. Another one of Artemis’s general symbols are the bow and arrow.
