Information Sharing Basic requirement Valuable information • Name • DOB • Address • Description (photo available?) • Where exactly were they found and who with? • What police action was taken? • If S136’d, where taken, who accepted care and contact number? • Offences committed? • How are they behaving? • Any known risks? • Any known triggers leading to the incident? • Name and contact number of NOK / friend / care coordinator? • Outcome of their MH assessment? • Already receiving support? • If so, details of unit, named contact and telephone number? • Name and contact details of GP?

What do PPU do • Liaise with hospitals to determine outcome of S136 • Liaise with family to offer support to them and find out further information to help assess risk • Pass / email / post information of support services to subjects and their family and friends • PPU will offer and make third party referrals via • Samaritans • Papyrus • Liaise with GPs and make referral • Brief local officers • Brief railway staff (as appropriate) • Work with mental health teams – (warning, ABC, prosecution)

  9. Submit a Suicide Prevention Plan and FIS before end of duty Confirm this action has been completed on NSPIS log

Supervisor responsibilities when HO / ambulance deal entirely Ascertain which hospital subject taken to Keep BTP officers running to incident, if practical Please obtain full details of subject with contact details and place on NSPIS Ensure officers submit FIS report / Suicide Prevention Plan before end of duty
