November 2012 • On the 5 November river Drava started raising due to necessity of lifting the flood gates of the hydro electric power plant. • All together 2.400 houses were affected/flooded. Extremely high quantities of rain also triggered around 526 landslides and mudslides. Numerous roads and other infrastructure facilities/structures were damaged. No killed or injured persons. • Damage assessment 310. 000.000,00 € • 000,00in process. • SloveniaaskforhelpfromEuropean solidarity found.

FOREST FIRES August 2012 3 major forest fires in Slovenia: • 2-3 August, Nova Gorica (steep slope, area containing several unexploded remnants from 1st and 2nd world war, Italian helicopter and Canadair assistance) • 10-14 August, Črni Kal and Obrov (Italian helicopter assistance) • 18-25 August, Osilnica (help provided by fire fighters from Croatia) • In total: 700 hectares burnt

GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZING OF PREMIUM Act on the Recovery from the Consequences of Natural Disasters (2007) • perils which are subsidized were excluded from government “ad hoch” help 2010 • 50 % for basic cover and additional covers (spring frost, storm, flood) • 30 % for basic livestock insurance cover • ~ 13 mio €
