School System Improvement (SSI) Project Online Portal TrainingSchool System Improvement (SSI) Project Online Portal Training Portal Training for the CSS Teacher Form • Instructions: • Use the left-mouse click, Enter key, Space Bar, or Keyboard arrows to move through the presentation. • Click or press a key once to make text and animations appear. • Wait for animations to finish before clicking or pressing a key again. • After viewing the training, confirm online the SSI Portal Trainings you have completed.

  2. Access the SSI Project Homepage http://ssiproject.rutgers.edu

  4. SSI Project Home Page Teacher Incentive Fund Login Log into the portal using your school email address On your first login, use the password: ssi2014 Make sure to change your password afterwards

  5. Teacher Incentive Fund Home Page Once you login, you will have three options: Welcome to the SSI Project Portal! Update your Profile Information Enter or review CSS Observations Enter or review Danielson Observations

Teacher Incentive Fund Home Page Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) The focus of this training is on the Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) for Teachers • The CSS-Teacher Form contains 3 parts • Part 2 Instructional Strategies and Behavioral Management Strategies Rating Scales • Under the Instructional Strategies Domain there are 5 Dimensions • Under the Behavioral Management Strategies Domain there are 4 Dimensions • Part 3 Classroom Checklist • Observation Requirements • The CSS Teacher Form is a self-reflective measure. You can use the CSS Teacher Form at anytime to self-evaluate a lesson. • Each CSS Self-Observation must be at minimum 30 minutes in length • We strongly encourage you to fill out the CSS Teacher form when you receive a formal direct classroom observation from evaluators • We also strongly encourage you to fill out the teacher versions of any other direct classroom observation measure your school has selected when you receive a formal direct classroom observation from evaluators • For example, your school also uses the Danielson Framework for Teaching . Fill out the CSS Teacher Form and the Danielson Framework for Teaching Teacher Form when you receive a formal direct classroom observation from evaluators

Teacher Incentive Fund Home Page Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) • Observation and Portal Procedure • After each self-observation, visit the SSI Portal and access the CSS platform • Enter your Part 2 Instructional Strategies and Behavioral Management Strategies scores • Enter your Part 3 Classroom Checklist scores • Submit your observation information • View the CSS Teacher Report • Enter your final effectiveness determination scores for each dimension of the CSS

  8. Teacher Incentive Fund Home PageCreate New CSS Self-Observation To create a new CSS observation, click on Create New CSS Observation. Let’s create a new Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) Self-Observation

  9. Create New CSS Self-Observation Fill out the required fields. Scroll down the page to complete Part 2 Rating Scales, and the Part 3 Classroom Checklist. Click Cancel to return to the TIF Home Page.

  12. Part 3: Classroom Checklist Complete Checklist Items and click “save draft” Check Yes or No if an item was observed

  13. CSS Observation Submission Submit Observation After completing the CSS Part 2, and Part 3 forms, you have two options: • Click on Save Draft to save your work and finish it later • Click Submit Observation to generate the CSS Teacher Report

  14. CSS Observation Submission You will be brought back to the SSI Portal home page A message will appear and confirm your observation was successfully submitted

  16. View ALL CSS Drafts All submissions are arranged from the most recent to the earliest and continue on to subsequent pages To edit an incomplete submission, click on Edit (Click delete to remove an observation)

  18. Teacher Incentive Fund Home PageView All CSS Submissions To view All CSS Submissions, click on View All CSS Submissions.

  19. View All CSS Submissions Submissions show each teacher’s name, and the observer’s name who completed the observation. As a Teacher, your list of submissions will show the CSS Observations your observer completes about your classroom. Look for your evaluator’s name and click View Observation to see the CSS Observer Report for your classroom. A list of CSS submissions will appear. Submissions are arranged by date starting with the most recent.

  20. View All CSS Submissions Look for your name and click View Observation to see the CSS Teacher Report for your classroom. To edit a completed submission, click on Edit Observation . Click View Observation to enter your effectiveness ratings. Click Back to return to the TIF Home Page As a Teacher, your list of submissions will show the CSS Observations you complete about your classroom.

CSS Teacher Report By clicking on View Observation, you will generate the CSS Teacher Report Your information about the CSS Observation Let’s look at the CSS Teacher Report Directions on how to complete the CSS Teacher Report effectiveness determination ratings Use the CSS Scoring Rubric to complete your effectiveness determination ratings Generate a printable report

Enter your CSS Overall Effectiveness Determination Click Submit to finalize the ratings

As new features of the portal become available, we will provide you with updates and subsequent training. Next, you will need to review the SSI Portal Trainings for the other direct classroom observation measure your school will be using to evaluate teachers. For example, if your school is using the Danielson Framework for Teaching, please review this training. You can find these additional trainings in your portal access email. If you need this email resent to you, please contact us. You can also access these trainings via the Resources page on our project website: http://ssiproject.rutgers.edu/resources/ If you do not see a training for your direct classroom observation measure (e.g. Danielson, Stronge, McREL, Marshall, etc.) at this time, stay tuned. We are working very hard to add your information into our portal and will have this information available to you as soon as possible.
