  5. Bone Marrow Transplant Bone Marrow Transplant is a procedure to replace damaged or destroyed bone marrow with healthy bone marrow stem cells.Bone marrow is the soft, fatty tissue inside your bones. The bone marrow produces blood cells. Stem cells are immature cells in the bone marrow that give rise to all of your different blood cells.

  6. Bone Marrow Bone marrow is the spongy tissue found inside some of your bones, such as your hip and thigh bones. It contains immature cells (called stem cells), and these stem cells can transform themselves into the red blood cells that carry oxygen through your body, the white blood cells that fight infections, and the platelets that help with blood clotting

  7. Blood cancer Blood cancer is an umbrella term for cancers that affect the blood, bone marrow and lymphatic system. Unfortunately, blood cancer affects a large number of people. There are three main groups of blood cancer: leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Some types are more common than others.

  8. Platelet and Bleeding Disorders Examples of platelet and bleeding disorders that may be treated by hematologists include idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), thrombocytopenic purpura, hemophilia and Von Willebrand disease. Treatment involves the use of engineered coagulation factor medications and blood transfusions.

  9. Hemoglobinopathies Hemoglobinopathies are a diverse group of inherited blood disorders that result from variations in the structure and/or synthesis of hemoglobin. The most common hemoglobinopathies are sickle cell disease, alpha-thalassemia, and beta-thalassemia. These are all autosomal recessive conditions. These are conditions caused by genetic defects that give rise to abnormalities in the globin chains inside a hemoglobin molecule.

  10. Iron Deficiency Anemia Anemia is defined as a reduced amount of red blood cells or hemoglobin in the blood, which can lead to a shortage in the amount of oxygen that is carried to various parts of the body. This can lead to symptoms such as a pale appearance, weakness, fatigue, and breathlessness. In the case of iron deficiency anemia, inadequate amounts of hemoglobin (oxygen carrying compounds) are found in red blood cells. Hemoglobin contains one iron molecule at its core and if this iron is missing, red blood cells appear pale and small when viewed under the microscope.

  11. Lymphatic System Lymphatic System is made up of thin tubes and groups of tiny, bean-shaped organs called lymph nodes that are located throughout the body. The largest clusters of lymph nodes are found in the abdomen, groin, pelvis, underarms, and neck. MyelomasMyelomas A bone marrow cancer that involves a type of white blood cell called a plasma (or myeloma) cell. The tumor cells in myeloma can form a single collection  or many tumors (multiple myeloma). Plasma cells are normally part of the immune system; they make antibodies.
