  2. About Mrs. Biederbeck… • This is my 16th year of teaching. • I have taught 2nd, 4th and 5th and 6th grades. • Previously I taught 6th Grade Math/Science-Jag Academy at Aprende.

  3. My three children are Kyrene kids. My oldest daughter is completing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The other two attend ASU, and will be graduating in December. I have been married to Tom for 28 years. I have a Business Degree from Augustana College-Illinois. I have an Elementary Education Certification from Rio Salado.

  4. What does math look like in our classroom? 1. Mental math warm-ups/Math Vocabulary 2. Direct instruction 3. Math facts 4. Use of white boards for practice 5. Math games/Competitions 6. Partner work 7. Small group instruction 8. Math projects 9. Notetaking 10. Resources: iReady, Eng NY, Connected Math 11. Mon-Thurs math homework is assigned

  6. One Quarterly Book Project • Ladder Book Project – due Mon., Sept. 30th • Flip Book Project – due Mon., Dec. 9th • Quilt Book Project – due Mon., March 2nd • Historical Biography Project – due end of April

Fifth Grade Science/Health Curriculum • Science: • The Scientific Method • Human Body Systems • Forces and Motion • Matter and Energy • Earth and Space • Discover Room • Health: Our health curriculum covers substance abuse prevention, nutrition, personal healthy hygiene. In the spring, we will cover human growth and development, and HIV/AIDS lessons.

  11. At 9:35 am, we have specials. • Monday is PE with Ms. Fuller • Tuesday is with Mrs. Sousae • Thursday is Library with Mrs. Hensley • Friday is Music with Mrs. Vissar

  12. Computer Lab Lessons include keyboarding skills, internet research, content games and word processing activities. There are always directions and guided activities to complete. Our computer lab time is on Thursdays from 10:20-11:20

Parent Parking Lot Helpful Hints: • Please follow all staff directions and signs. • Starting Thursday for after school pick up, we will have students stand by grade level (older siblings stand with younger siblings). Parents will be motioned to move forward, and students will walk up to their parent’s vehicle. • Only Right turns are allowed out of the Parking Lot. • Always use crosswalks. • Please do not jay walk, or motion your child to walk between cars or buses. • The Staff Parking lot is unavailable for parent parking. • Parking is allowed around the school neighborhood. You are welcome to park and walk your child to drop off and pick up.

  18. Room A17The Discover Room is Open Tonight! A place where kids can PLAY & EXPLORE during lunch recess. Earth & Space Engineering/Invention Electricity & Magnets Life Science, Chemistry, Geology Guest Presenters from ASU, SRP, & parents What We Need: • Parent/Grandparent/Community Member Volunteers to help supervise students in the room during lunch recess (approx 10:40am -12:35pm) • Volunteers to help with administrative tasks before/after school or at home • Supplies: new/gently used science kits, legos, snap circuits, marble runs, science toys, AA batteries, masking tape • Sign up to volunteer with your teacher tonight!
