  1. Dr. Seuss Multi Genre Portfolio By Tamar Stollman

  2. Artifact 1: All About Dr. Seuss • Dr. Seuss’ real name is Theodore Seuss Geisel. • He was born in 1904 in Springfield Massachusetts. • He married Helen Palmer- a children’s author and book editor. He met her at Oxford University in England where he went to collage. • He died on September 24, 1991 • (http://www.catinthehat.org/history.htm)

  3. Reflection 1 : What I think about Dr. Seuss • I love Dr. Seuss! Every since I was little, I read his books with difficulty. I loved and still love him. I love to write and he has definitely inspired me to be creative and to be myself in writing! • --Tamar Stollman

  4. Artifact 2: The cat in the hat • The Cat in the Hat is the second most well known Dr. Seuss book. The Cat in the Hat has been made into many things. Such as • Stuffed animals • A movie • A TV show

  5. Artifact 3: The cat in the hat book review • “The ubiquitous Dr Seuss books probably don’t need reviewing – we’ve all read them and we’ve all read them to our children, and we all love them to bits, but of course, Kids Book Review would not be complete without paying homage to one of the world's favourite author for children. The illustrations are something incomparable – both in execution and design. Those retro, tri-colour pages of yesteryear just can’t be done today without looking ridiculous – they are the stuff of a delicious literary past long gone, and should stay that way so they can be admired and sighed over.” (http://www.kids-bookreview.com/2011/09/review-cat-in-hat.html)

  6. Artifact 4:The cat in the hat Movie reviews • “There is surprisingly rude and crude humor including double entendresand almost-swearing, potty humor, and other bodily function jokes.” (http://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/dr-seuss-cat-hat) • The Cat in the Hat movie got an 11% on rotten tomatoes.com • “There is NO way I'd let my kids watch this crude, stupid garbage. My jaw dropped scene, after scene, after scene. What Hollywood "suit" OK'd this thing? It is mean-spirited, raunchy and ugly. My little nephew started CRYING about thirty minutes into the film. Characters burp, curse, urinate, pick their nose, expose their posterior, etc.” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312528/reviews)

  7. Reflection 2: the cat in the hat • I have read The Cat in the Hat so many times. I love the book so much. It is funny, entertaining and good for kids. From reading these reviews about The Cat in the Hat movie, I don’t think I would want to see it! Before I read these reviews, I thought that the movie wouldn’t be bad. I thought it would be funny like the book. But, I have seen the TV show- The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That. I don’t it like because it is educational for little kids. However, my brother and sister love this TV show. They think it’s funny and interesting. I think they like it and I don’t because they are younger than me and their ages are the ages that this show was geared tword.

  8. Artifact 5: DR. Seuss quotes • “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” –Dr. Seuss • “I meant what I said and I said what I meant” –Dr. Seuss • “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” – Dr. Seuss • (http://thinkexist.com/quotes/dr._seuss/) • “UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is • going to get better. It’s not.” • “Because, after all, a person’s a person, no matter how small.” – Dr. Seuss • (http://www.earlymoments.com/Dr-Seuss--His-Friends-Club/Favorite-Dr-Seuss-Quotes/)

  9. Reflection 3: Dr. Seuss quotes • I chose those specific quotes on the slide before because they all mean something to me. My favorite two quotes are the last two quotes. I love these because they are very important messages in life.
