  4. Lois M. Congdon, 1949 Biographical info from Methodist Memoirs and Village Vignettes (Mt. Kisco) Lois Margaret Congdon, whose family dates back in the Mount Kisco Church over a hundred years, was the first woman ordained a minister in the “old” New York Conference of the Methodist Church, on May 12, 1963 at the First Methodist Church, Newburgh, NY. Pastor Lois grew up in Mt. Kisco, NY, attended its schools and furthered her education at Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA. Her Bachelor of Divinity degree and doctorate were granted by Drew University. She has served churches in the New York Conference and has taught at the college level.
