Pervasive.SQL 2000 – Service Pack 2 • Pervasive.SQL 2000 SP2 • Common Address Space (CAS) • both the transactional and relational engines are loaded and operate in the same process address space, thus, reducing the CPU time required to communicate between them • Auto-Increment • The SQL Relational Database Engine now creates an index for an Identity (auto-increment) column. It will also default the value for the column to the value 0. The net result is that the value will increment to the next in the series for the column. • New Communications Server • new features such as NetBIOS support and TCP/IP Multihomed support • Multihomed support for TCP/IP allows you to communicate directly to more than one Network Interface Card without the use of IP Forwarding

Pervasive.SQL 2000 – Service Pack 2 continued • Asynchronous I/O • The server MicroKernel for Windows NT now uses asynchronous I/O when writing pages to disk • The MicroKernel quickly writes pages to Windows NT system cache and Windows NT signals when the pages are on disk • Read performance is also enhanced when there are many concurrent operations being done in the MicroKernel at the same time, especially if you access your dataset on a striped set of disk drives. Each read causes a worker thread to wait until the page is available. With asynchronous I/O, Windows NT can pool the work of multiple readers to make the "reads" more efficient • New Grant Statement for Secured Databases • This will enable users, including the Master User, to access tables that have owner names associated with them
