  3. Transparency improves development effectiveness • Improved effectiveness and value for money • Hold DFID and recipient governments to account. • Better feedback from beneficiaries • Better understand what works and what doesn’t. • Reduce waste, fraud and corruption.

DFID Aid Transparency Guarantee • All new DFID projects and programmes on our website: • Common standard with other donors. • Comprehensive, accessible, comparable, accurate and timely. • English summary in major local languages, • Anyone can reuse • Push for full transparency across the international aid system

  5. What does it mean for civil society partners • Over time, any civil society organisation that is in direct receipt of DFID funds will need to adhere to similar standards of transparency. • Not just DFID

  6. Programme Partnership Arrangements • “PPA agency will work towards applying transparency standards in line with the UKaid Transparency Guarantee to the funds received from DFID. From financial year 2012/13, PPA agency will publish information about DFID funded projects in line with relevant categories of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) standards.”

Minimum level of disclosure • Activity number • Title • Description • Funding organisation or Donor • Country or Region • Incoming source of funds • Commitment/ Total project value • Expenditure date and value (if applicable) • Disbursement date and value (if applicable) • Project status • Project documents • Project budget

  8. Frequency of publishing Quarterly

  9. Exclusions • Options for exclusions (in line with Freedom of Information Act) • Such as security, personal information, commercial sensitivity, partners and the organisation • DFID exclusions less than 2% • Developing some common guidelines in later session. • Unless we are told information needs to be excluded, we may publish it.

  10. Implementation plan By 1/4/2012: • Implementation plan with timeline on when all of the “IATI data items” will be published included. • Progress report (simple template that DFID working on) highlighting which “data items” have been published. By 1/5/2012 • Submit plan and progress report/template with Annual Report
