Get Started • Professor Barbara Ganley who used web blogs in her courses said, • “How can a teacher expect her students to blog ( or use any other tool, strategy, or technique) if she doesn’t use it herself, exploring the impact it has on her thinking, writing, research, and creativity?” ( Ganley, 2004b)

  4. Start Small Begin their own blogs by first create a link to something interesting. Become familiar with blogging, Start explain the post with a few sentences Do not afraid of post some personal experiences and something fun Reader wants to see and know the person behind the blog Be public Blogger: Different school have different rules about blogging Be careful about what are posting Blog as an educated person When the blogs on air all people can see that (Complaining of particular students, parents, board of education )

  5. Web blog can play an important roles in the classroom for both students and teachers Both teachers and students should know how to blog Millions of kids blog everyday, only a few using a correct literacy or standard

Blogging with students • Consider internet access for students in school at home: • 70% of household in 2012 household • jump from 17% to 62% in ten years. • Start from small ( homework assignment or relevant class link) • Get used to communicate with your students with blog • Lets parents know that you’ve created a site for class • Get students reading blogs, prepare a good sites blogs • Let students response to your blogs, (certain number) • Ask some of students to post to the same weblog • Giving each student his/her own blogs They can quote, put picture, type their question and more

Blog Safety • Students, parents, and administrators should clearly know the purpose of the blogs • For students K-12 use only the first name • Have always documentation and backup • Evaluate the students blogs and response them • Use the number of their post and grade them • After course end depends on hostess, students may continue blogging, but informed the parents.

  8. Blog Software • Learn about the software: • The installation, back up the files on server, and stay current on the latest updates. • Research about the capabilities • Know about the security • There are some blogs offer their service free

Blogging Step by Step • First choose the blogs: www.blogger.com • Signing up for the blogger( the address is what ever name you choose) • Click on dashboard, new post, and create post • Top box is for title • Write the post in the post box (word correction) • Always can edit even after publishing • Add the citation if there is at the end • Upload, publish

Adding pictures and More to Blog Posts • Click on image icon • Click add from computer or add from web • Choose the photo • Be sized the photo and formatted • Rotate or crop the picture if needed( right click) • Copy the address and choose the layout, select the size • Click upload image • Add another image for more pictures

At the end • Adjustment to blogger regarding safety. • Upper right-hand corner click Next Blog (this link some of random weblog is not appropriate for student to view)but it is removable: • Click the “Template” • Click the “Edit HTML” sub tab • Scroll down to where you see “body” {.”just past the Following on a new line just above that spot:
