ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership Aim To give practicing or aspiring first line managers a solid foundation for their formal development as a leader Learning outcomes and objectives The Learner will; 1. Understand leadership styles • Differentiate between leadership and management understanding the need for both • Understand a range of leadership models including trait, behavioural, contingency, power and influence and transformational • Understand an explain how these styles have a positive effect on individual and group behaviour

Understand Leadership qualities and review own leadership qualities and potential • Identify and analyse their own organisations working practices and cultural style • Identify factors which influence their individual leadership styles and behaviours in their workplace • Translate a specific leadership style into appropriate actions in their own workplace • Understand feedback and apply to their own leadership behaviours • Identify how leadership styles affect task performance, relationships and organisational culture 3. Connect with the team vision and strategy • Understand the concepts of vision, mission and strategy, the need for them and their practical application for leaders • Identify their own organisations vision, mission and strategy • How to develop SMART objectives that support an organisations vision, mission and strategy • Analyse effective communication strategies and the role it plays in conveying the overall vision, mission and strategy • Assess the effectiveness of their own communication within their organisation
