  2. Dsmc file permissions • Linux file permissions are saved to tape and restored after retrieval. But they have no effect on the tape archives • But: as tsm-owner (the person who stored the files on tape) can give permissions to other users and nodes to retrieve the files. Default: only the user who stored the files can retrieve it and only from the same node !!!

  3. dsmc permissions 2 • Tsm-owner: > dsmc set access archive /home/* * * or • dsmc set access archive /d/alice01/kschwarz/* lxg0503 kschwarz • Check with: dsmc query access • Other user from other node: > dsmc retrieve –fromowner=kschwarz –fromnode=lxg0503 PATH/filename DESTDIR/filename
