TSU is the first university in Asian part of Russia (since 1880 year) TSU include in Top-500 world university ranking by “The Times” (with Moscow and SPb state universities) TSU have get a status National Research University (NRU) and one of the two Russian NRU which develop social and human sciences as profile.

Key Research Themes • Analysis of science and technology policy: - city utilities and infrastructures (e.g. heating and water supply systems) - social studies of medicine (e.g. obstetrics); - technological entrepreneurship and innovation in practice. • New approaches in technology assessment • Technology and arts: (e.g. computer modeling; synthetic biology and emerging life forms) • Studies of Science Communication
