  2. Short history of TPU The university was based in 1896. It is the first technical institute in Tomsk. It has a very big history of development and changed several names: • Tomsk technologic institute; • Tomsk industrial institute; • Tomsk polytechnic institute; • Tomsk polytechnic university. SinceTomsk Polytechnic University was founded, it prepared thousands specialists of different fields.
