  1. What is CAT 2018 Exam for MBA?

  2. Common Admission Test (CAT) is a competitive management entrance exam conducted at the national level. CAT 2018 is conducted for admissions in Postgraduate Business Administration Programme and other programs in various IIMs and other B-Schools accepting CAT 2018. Since 2009, the CAT mode has been computer-based. The exam has a duration of 3 hours, giving 100 objective-type questions, divided into three sections: Verbal Skills and Reading Understanding (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Justification (DI & LR), and Quantitative Skill ( QA). The time set for each section is 60 minutes each. Candidates must pass the exam in chronological order and can not pass from one section to another during the exam. Results are published in the form of Percentage, in a cut list. Candidates can check the same thing by providing their login info. The counseling procedure for the newspaper starts from the last week of January. Upon the release of the exam, Candidates are required to appear in Round of Written Testing (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), Group Activity (GA), Extempore Activities and Personal Interview (PI) for admission to IIM, or other business schools in India.

  3. CAT 2018 Eligibility Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2018: The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% mark or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST and PWD / DA categories). The percentage gained on the bachelor's degree will be calculated based on the practice followed by the respective university / institution. In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion would be based on the process set by the respective university / institution. In the absence of any percentage conversion scheme, the CGPA of the candidate will be divided by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the score by 100. Candidates applying for the last year of bachelor / equivalent qualification also have the right to apply for CAT.

  4. CAT 2018 Process STEP 1: CAT 2018 Application Procedure CAT 2018 application form is to be submitted online with payment of application fee through Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking. STEP 2: CAT 2018 Admit Cards CAT 2018 admit cards will available for download on the official website. CAT aspirants must download their admit cards from the official website as they won't be sent to them by post. STEP 3: CAT 2018 Results CAT 2018 result will be declared in January 2019. The test takers can check their scores and download their scorecards from the official website. Based on their scores they will be invited by the IIMs for GD/PI rounds. CAT score is accepted by most of management institutes in India.

  6. CAT 2018 Exam Analysis The CAT is India’s top management entrance exam and it is a gateway to 20 IIMs and over 8000 other business schools in India. The CAT 2017 exam was held in two sessions on Nov 26, 2017. The first session was held from 10 am to 1 pm and the second session will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm. The question paper of CAT 2017 first slot consisted of 100 questions. There were 34 Quantitative Ability (QA) questions, 34 Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) questions and 32 Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning questions (DILR). In the QA section of the first slot of CAT 2017, there were 11 MCQs with more arithmetic questions, while in DILR section was equally divided between DI and LR questions. 16 questions were on DI and 16 on LR. There were 8 MCQs out of 32 questions in this section. The difficultly level in DILR section was high while, in QA section it can be termed as easy. The VARC section in the first slot of CAT 2017 was of moderate difficulty with 24 questions on RC (5 passages). 10 questions were from grammar out of which 7 were non-MCQs. The questions focused more on basics and were on the same lines as slot one, i.e. same break up in terms of MCQs and non-MCQs. DILR section in the second slot was slightly easier than the first slot but was lengthy and time taking. Difficulty level of QA and VARC section was same as slot 1. VARC: There were total 34 questions out of which 24 were on RC (5 passages). Rest of the 10 questions were from VA, out of which 7 were non-MCQs. The para summary questions were MCQs with negative marking. In the VA section parajumbles were somewhat time consuming, while rest were doable. DI-LR: Like the first slot, DI-LR in slot 2 had 32 questions as well. 16 questions were of DI and 16 of LR, with 12 MCQs and 4 non-MCQs in both sets. The difficulty level in this section was higher in slot 2 as compared to slot 1. QA: The Quantitative Ability section in slot 2 of CAT 2017 was of easy to moderate difficulty with more questions from Arithmetic. Out of 34 questions 11 were non-MCQs. The questions ranged from topics like Arithmetic, Geometry, Mensuration, Algebra to Series & Sequence, Modulas, Number System etc.
